Canoe FM exists because of people like you!
Canoe FM exists because people in this community step up.
Right now, we’re looking for a few volunteers who believe local voices, local music, and local stories matter.
You don’t need radio experience — just an interest and a bit of time. We’ll train you, support you, and you’ll never be on your own.
Community radio can’t survive without volunteers, and even a few people stepping forward makes a real difference.
If you’ve ever thought, “I could do that,” this is your sign.
Reach out, call the station, or stop by Canoe FM. We’d love to talk with you. 705-457-1009
Canoe FM Journalist has an update from LifeLabs
Thank you for reaching out.
We can confirm that the Haliburton LifeLabs Patient Service Centre (PSC) is operating on reduced hours as we work with the property manager and landlord to investigate the odour within the building complex. Our hours of operation will remain reduced during the ongoing investigation (7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) while continuing to provide access to the community.
Our initial investigation has confirmed that there is no mould or gas leak within the PSC and it's safe for patients and our team. We are prioritizing both employee and patient safety as we work to identify the cause of the odour. Out of an abundance of caution, we have provided masks for our staff and patients.
We remain committed to maintaining the highest possible safety standards within our facilities and are actively working with the landlord to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

Life Labs of Haliburton- Complaints of Odor
Life Labs in Haliburton – Complaints of Odor
This is a story from CanoeFM’s Local Journalism Reporter, Elizabeth Oakley.
Haliburton’s Life Labs, located in the Medical Building on Gelert Road is being inspected for
suspicious odors and potential mold.
CanoeFM was alerted to the situation earlier this morning when a Facebook post featured a
number of local residents saying Life Labs in Haliburton would be closed for the next two days.
According to the post, some employees there reported feeling ill after being exposed to mold-
like odors.
Tamara Wilee, CAO of Dysart et Al, who owns the Medical Building, provided this statement to
CanoeFM:
“While there are some odor complaints at the Medical Centre at the moment, there has been
no confirmation that mold exists based on preliminary inspections. That said, we have been
in touch with Pinchin Environmental to make arrangements to undertake further
investigation and we are actively working to address tenant concerns.”
Wilbee could not confirm whether Life Labs is closed at present, nor if it will be while the
inspections take place.
CanoeFM will provide updates on this story when they become available.
