After Nine – Norma Bingham (“Home Help” with Mike Rahme, last Tuesday of every month 9:30-11am.)

Join Norma Bingham every Tuesday morning on the After Nine show. Don’t miss The Brain Strain at 10am where Norma invites you to text in your answers to a question relating to the results of a survey. She has a lot of fun reading your guesses. The answer is revealed at 10:30.

On the last Tuesday of the month from September to June between 9:30 and 10:30 check out Home Help where local inspector Mark Rahme joins Norma to present information on homes, cottages and renovations. Text in any questions to: 705.457-1009.

The Drive Show – Larry Hall or Doug Norris

The Drive Show with a mix of picks from 3 to 6.  Doug or Larry will keep you up to date with the weather, News at 5, Public Service Announcements, and  they will entertain you with interesting facts and community interviews.

Periodically you will hear them interviewing local, community members.

Sometimes when Larry or Doug are not able to do their show, Carolyn Dartnell will fill in.  Thanks Carolyn.

In The Afternoon – Sally Kenerson or Bob Stiles

IN THE AFTERNOON (12p.m.-3p.m.) is a mix of new and old music, community information, and special features to keep you company while you work around the house, relax with a book, or hit the road for a trip to grab some groceries. The Pet Detective is in the first hour. (helping pets and owners reunite)

Hosts Sally Kennerson and Bob Stiles share this three hour spot – one week you will be hosted by Sally and the next week you are joining Bob

When Sally is on the air after the weather at 1:30 there is the “Cheesy CanAm Sandwich” (sometimes gluten and dairy free) which is a trio of songs by two Canadian and one American artist. Following the sandwich is the “Easy Peasy Cheesy Question”—you can win a prize if you are the first person to call or text in the correct answer. No googling required. Right after the two o’clock weather is the “Song From the Last Century”.

At 2:45 it’s time  Ron Murphy’s feature called Medical Matters. It’s a short discussion of medical topics of interest to listeners of any age. If you have a medical matter you would like to have discussed on an upcoming show you can send that question for consideration.

Following the doctor, more music whisks you to 3:00 when The Drive Show shifts into gear.

Front Row Centre – Jack Brezina

Each week, Front Row Centre pays tribute to outstanding and interesting musical theatre productions. The show includes cast recordings and many revealing stories about the musicals and those involved in their creation. When possible, host Jack Brezina finds people involved in recent productions in Ontario and talks to them about their experiences. Jack always uncovers interesting nuggets of information about the musicals and people who make them happen…..but, it is the fabulous music which flows from these productions that is the highlight of each show. Front Row Centre can be heard on Canoe FM every Wednesday and repeated on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. There is a new show each week.. Of course, selected past editions are accessible anytime at this location on line.

Off the Beaten Trax – Jim Anstess

Off the Beaten Trax plays Adult Alternative music that won’t hurt your ears. The first hour starts with the best of the week’s new releases. The second hour usually begins with a featured album and information about the performers that will help put the songs in context. Tune in for new music we know you’re going to like.

Concert Hall – Bill Gliddon

The Concert Hall started in May of 2013 in as Bill puts it “The Birthing Room,” as he was doing his first show on Mother’s Day in the room he was born in, as the Canoe FM building used to be the Red Cross Outpost Hospital.

Bill taught music in both elementary and high schools for 35 years in Haliburton County. In his secondary school classes, he taught a music appreciation course. This formed the basis for his classical music program as he purchased a lot of materials and did a great deal of research to find information to make the course interesting for students that he now shares here on Canoe FM. The Concert Hall includes biographical information about the composers, notes on the pieces, and other anecdotes often based around a theme.
