Heather Sargent’s Ode to Canoe FM

It’s 5:30 am, not much can be heard
But a loon on the lake, and the chirp of a bird
The sun’s coming up, over the county
As I head to the station, keys in hand to the bounty
The building is empty, so I turn on a light
Check to see what’s transpired, while I slept through the night
I look through the emails, what else should I know
Dot the I’s, cross the t’s on the news for my show
Who has a birthday, and what has been lost?
What’s on at Mollie’s, and what is the cost?
What music is playing, and at what county park?
Just what’s going on, from dawn ‘til after dark?
It’s 7am, and now I’m on the air
Now part of a station that is ever so rare
A text’s coming in, someone wants us to know
There’s deer on the road, and the fog is still low
A pet has been found, please help find its people
A church sale is on, great deals under the steeple
What is this, ask some, this mysterious flower?
Pauline has the answer, has the gardening power
There’s Norma, that freaky gal on after nine
So many I’d say that are now friends of mine
Roxanne, Janice, and Lynn keeping us all in line
Ron, Dave, Karim and Scott making sure that we shine
There’s trips to be won, and bingo each week
t-shirts and hats that look pretty sleek
Many not on the air who we can’t do without
They make this place special, without any doubt
There’s just no place like it - I’ve ever known
so much more in store that you’ve yet to be shown
A recording studio – whose launching does loom
Who knows WHAT music will come from THAT room!
We thank you, the county, for this journey with us
Hop on board as we travel on the Canoe bus
Our paddles in hand, there’s no end to this lake
Let’s continue to soar – for the county’s sake!
