YOUTH CHARGED AFTER UTTERING THREATS
(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) - A 13-year-old youth is facing multiple charges after a family dispute.
On Monday June 10, 2024, members of the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service regarding a family dispute where a 13-year-old youth was making threats to cause harm to others.
Officers attended where they were informed that during a dispute, the youth produced a cannister stating it was Mace and advised they were going to spray it at the others involved. The youth was currently bound by conditions not to possess any weapons. Officers located the youth who was then arrested.
The youth, who cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking
The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
