
Community Engagement & Media Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
Location: Haliburton County, Ontario
Duration: 8 weeks (Summer 2026)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: $20/hour + mileage reimbursement
About Us:
100.9 & 97.1 Canoe FM is Haliburton County’s community radio station, connecting residents through music, news, and local stories. We are passionate about building community, supporting local organizations, and giving voices to everyone in our County.
Position Summary:
Step into a hands-on role where you’ll gain experience in media, marketing, communications, and event coordination — all while making a meaningful impact in your community!
As a Community Engagement & Media Assistant, you will:
- Support and help execute our annual Radiothon fundraising event.
- Coordinate with local businesses, non-profits, and community partners.
- Create social media content, promotional materials, and on-air messaging.
- Assist with digital campaigns and online auction management.
- Engage directly with the public through our “Connecting Voices in Haliburton County” initiative, increasing our visibility and building face-to-face connections with residents, businesses, and visitors — particularly in Minden, where we recently installed a new transmitter.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Qualifications:
- University student or recent graduate pursuing studies in marketing, communications, media, journalism, or related field.
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for community engagement.
- Comfortable with social media platforms, content creation, and digital tools.
- Energetic, proactive, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Willingness to be out in the community for events and campaigns.

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Requirement):
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person.
- Must be registered as a full-time student returning to school in the fall.
