Help Name Sir Sam’s Chairlift

Haliburton Highlands, ON – Sir Sam's Ski/Ride is inviting the public to help name its brand-
new quad chairlift, set to open for the 2026/27 ski season.

As a community-owned ski resort that has been part of the Haliburton Highlands for more than
60 years, Sir Sam's is inviting skiers, snowboarders, residents, and visitors to take part in
naming this exciting addition.
The new chairlift, with a capacity for more than 2,000 guests per hour, will help maintain Sir
Sam's reputation for short lift lines, comfort, and safety.
An online naming contest opens August 10 and closes September 15, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. The
winning entry will be announced at Sir Sam's annual Thanksgiving Festival on October 10.
“We have selected a judging panel comprised of our staff, board members, and community
representatives who will select the winning name," said David Bishop, General Manager of Sir
Sam's Ski/Ride. "We're excited to celebrate the new chairlift and unveil its new name at our
annual community thank-you event on Thanksgiving weekend."
Beginning August 10, name entries can be submitted online at sirsams.ca/chairlift-2026 by
completing an entry form. Participants may submit up to three name ideas with one entry per
person and everyone is encouraged to include the inspiration behind their suggestions.
The new Doppelmayr 4-CLF Alpen Star quad chairlift replaces the former Eagle View double
chairlift on the Kingston run and is part of Sir Sam's ongoing modernization plan. The new
chairlift offers a faster, more comfortable ride while improving access to runs across the entire
resort. This winter, Sir Sam's will operate five lifts, including three quad chairlifts, continuing its
commitment to providing one of Ontario's premier family skiing and learn-to-ski experiences.
Join them in naming the newest piece of Sir Sam's history and be part of the next chapter at
Haliburton's favourite recreation destination.
