Subject: Algonquin Highlands hosts tree-lighting celebrations
The Township of Algonquin Highlands will host three tree-lighting celebrations – in
Stanhope, Dorset and Oxtongue Lake, respectively – in late November and early
December.
“It’s difficult to believe, but the holiday season is fast approaching,” says Mayor Liz
Danielsen. “In Algonquin Highlands, we’re continuing the tradition of community tree
lightings. We invite residents to come out, see their neighbours, sing some carols, enjoy
some hot chocolate, and help us usher in this festive time of year.”
The Stanhope event will take place Friday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. outside the Algonquin
Highlands Administrative Office at 1123 North Shore Road. The Dorset tree lighting will
happen Sunday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. at Lions Centennial Park at 1054 Main Street. In
Oxtongue Lake, the festivities will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Community
Centre at 3979 Highway 60.
Each event will include carols, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa Claus. Residents are
asked to bring a travel mug to enjoy their hot chocolate.
